Taking the Plunge

Well. It's been quite some time since I have written at this blog. Believe it or not, I have been busy writing lately. I don't know why I do it. I must like torture. But I have to write.

It had to come at some time. After writing for as long as I've been, it has finally happened. I will be coming out with my first book and surprisingly, it's not going to be a fiction offering. It will be a non-fiction booked entitled Stop Bringing Them to Church: Protecting the Sanctity of the Church. It's based on a series of essays I did earlier this year at  my Facebook page (and hey...if you're not hooked up with me then what ARE you waiting for? Click on my badge on the left and hook up with me.)

I know this has been a long time coming. Took me this long to figure out what I REALLY wanted to write about. I was hoping that I'd find out a little sooner but...that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. I have a feeling once I start that it's going to be one of those continuous things. Until the day I die. So I have quite a few books to begin writing.

I've been working on the book for a little while now and I'm going along at a pretty good clip. If I keep this up then I might be able to get done with the first draft at the end of January 2011.

I've never really been one of those bloggers who likes to write about myself. Matter of fact, it bothers me. However, I do think this upcoming book will help people whether they're Christian or not, to understand the church. This is important because having a wrong understanding about the church will skew the whole concept of what the church is truly supposed to be.

So I guess this is going to force me to go ahead and keep up with things on here a little better than what I have. More writing.

I told you. I like torture.

Work At eHow As Jacob Workman

In the last part of 2009, I became a regular contributor to the website eHow under the pseudonym Jacob Workman. For some odd reason, they won't accept my nickname of P.R.E.Z. which is the name I've used for years. I include these articles because I actually get paid to write them

I have done many more articles than even I realized (at the writing of this, about 40) until I did a search at the site so I'm only going to put links to a couple of them. You can always go to the website and do a search under the name Jacob Workman.

Much of what I've done their has to do with music because of my other endeavor as a music producer and composer. However, I do other subjects that tickle my fancy there when the appropriate topic arises. Here are links to five of those articles.

Toledo Free Press Articles

I must confess that this past summer I went through a rather difficult period and needed to get psychiatric evaluation. I know that this is something that's rather strange to admit on a site that's supposed to showcase my writing but it all ties in so bear with me.

You see, this past summer, I ran for city council. As an independent. In an almost all democrat city.

Now you see the picture?

Throughout that period of low sanity in my life, I got the opportunity to write a few choice guest columns for the Toledo Free Press, the only
real newspaper in the city in my estimation and many others. Actually, my opinion was coveted greatly. So, I gave it.

These are just two of the pieces I had written. You can click on the picture of the article to blow it up and read it. In addition, I have some articles at TFP that only made it to their online version during that time. One of them speaks of the danger of familiarity when voting. You can view that article by clicking below:

The Dangers Of Familiarity

This article came out right before the primary. No, I didn't win but I'm convinced I wouldn't be as effective of a voice as I am now without that shackle around my neck. I will more than likely do more articles for the TFP and I'll be sure to post them here when I do.
