The Twelve - The Cover

Well. The last nail has been driven into the coffin on this. And to think that this is just the beginning. This is the tentative cover for The Twelve. I really like what Dave (artist) did on this. I think it sums up the basic premise of the whole story quite nicely. Very nicely indeed. Now comes the work. Not that writing it wasn't work (doesn't seem like it). Or getting everyone to complete the project (O.K...THAT was work. Fun but work). But I'm talking about the cover letters, submitting to different publishers, getting the rejections (just a fact of life in this business). But I'm very happy that it's reached this point. Say a prayer for ...

The Twelve - Part 2

I want to take the time right now and talk about dreams or more specifically what I've learned about them.I've learned that in order to make your dreams come true that you have to have a clear cut direction in where you want to go and what you want to accomplish. I start this off with prayer. The Lord Jesus knows better than I do what direction I need to go so I start there. The next thing I've discovered is the dreaded word we flee from as soon as it begins to show it's ugly face. In order for dreams to become reality it takes d..d..dis..dis...DISCIPLINE. There...I said it! As a writer and musician, it takes writing something or working on music...

The Twelve - Part 1

Goodness. I love it when a project comes together.Along with changing the 9 to 5 career recently, I've been busy gearing up for my second shopping project as well as finishing my first. This was started back in August 2005 and it's finally completed. I can't tell you how excited I am about this. This is an eight page sample for an action-adventure drama called The Twelve. It's about twelve people chosen by God to save the United States during World War III. But first, they must destroy it. Burdened with a task they either embrace, despise, or don't understand, they proceed with their mission, an endeavor that forces them to deal with each other...

Risks Of Departure - Part 2

Something is happening this year. I can't explain it but my desire to write is increasing. Things that were taking up my time before are becoming less important. God has done something to me inside and I'm digging it. This is a wonderful feeling because once something like this starts to happen, it confirms in your heart that this is what you're supposed to be doing. Writers need that kind of affirmation to keep going. At the moment I'm working on two major projects. One is a graphic novel I've titled Twelve. The other is a novel titled The Different Ones. I'm finding that working on more than one project at the same time keeps me writing which...

Risks Of Departure - Part 1

This short story is part one of an eight page piece I did with artist Paul Tucker for the 2004 anthology Ellium : Hybrid. I loved the mood that his art conveyed for this and it seemed to be a favorite of people who picked up the book. We were given freedom to write stories based in the Ellium world. Elluim is a wordlwide organization that guides global affairs through various covert means. There are a couple factions within the organization and they are at odds with one another. After being given the background information on this, I decided to write a story where one of the agents of Ellium, a top operative named Silas Corbin, wanted to...

Profile - Knowdaverbs

As I seek to expand my horizons this year by forming my own freelance copywriting business, I find myself going through all those articles, reviews, and stories I've written over the years. All this does is reinforce a few things for me: I'm getting older. I write an awful lot meaning this is something I probably should have pursued quite a while back. I'm older this year. I'm finding more joy in reading and writing than in watching television. Did I mention I was getting older? This will take discipline and organization, something us writers are known not to be particularly good at. I'm blessed to be an exception to that rule. This...
